Most founders drown in notes that go nowhere. The fix isn't more notes — it's a small set of templates you actually reuse, each answering a specific question. These three are the backbone of how we keep PlatOS organized: one for the business, one for every project inside it, and one for the day. Copy them, adapt the fields, and run your operation like an operator instead of a to-do list.

Each template uses a simple frontmatter block (the --- section) so your notes stay queryable in tools like Obsidian or Notion, followed by the structure that does the thinking for you.

1. The Business Template

One per business or product line. It forces clarity on the things founders avoid writing down — the model, the status, the risks.

2. The Project Template

One per project. The trick is the Outcome field: if you can't write what "done" looks like in one sentence, the project isn't scoped yet. Tie every project to the business it serves so you never work on something that doesn't move a number.

3. The Daily Note Template

One per day. The discipline is the Top 3 — three outcomes that actually move the business, chosen before the inbox gets a vote. Everything else is capture. The body section keeps you honest about the part of the day that isn't work.

How to actually use these

Start with the business note. Everything hangs off it. If a project doesn't link back to a business outcome, that's a signal — not a template problem.
Write the Outcome before the actions. Most stalled projects are just unscoped ones. One clear sentence fixes more than any task app.
Pick your Top 3 the night before. Deciding tomorrow's priorities while today is fresh beats deciding them in the morning fog.
Review weekly. Open the business note, glance at its linked projects, and kill or revive anything that's drifted. The system only works if you close loops.

The point of a template isn't tidiness — it's removing the daily decision of "where does this go?" so your attention stays on the work that compounds.

The Founder's Kit
